Before expanding to Hollywood her career, she was able to make a few songs. Nora Lum, born in Forest Hills Queens to Chinese and Korean immigrants was her very first music experience. She performed on the trumpet. Alongside classical music and jazz, Nora Lum began studying hip-hop in her teens. While in college, she focused on her studies. Following graduation, she decided to focus on music. The track My Vag, a response track to Mickey Avalon's My Dick gained viral popularity through the Internet in the year 2012. The track was later included in her first album Yellow Ranger released in 2014. It also included viral hits, such as body-positive Queef and a wink-y home tour NYC Bitche$1. This track was directly linked with another Awkwafina project NYC a travel guide published in the year 2015.
